Hayatullah, 32, from Behsod district of Nangarhar, lost both of his parents when he was only 10 years old. From a very young age, he took responsibility for supporting his family of six and worked tirelessly to build a livelihood. He later started Al-Shoes, a small business producing shoes and sandals. With limited materials and equipment, growing the business was difficult.

Through ACTED-supported project implemented by ODESC, Hayatullah received business training and grant support. With this support he purchased needed materials and equipment, improved his production, and strengthened his business.

Today Hayatullah continues working to grow his business and support family better as he said during his interview with ODESC staff “This project gave me hope, support, and strength to continue my business.”
